2018 Goals Recap

2018 Personal/Spiritual Goals

1. Attempt to read 12 books by the end of the year. Last year was dismal for me- I am ashamed!
2. Walk or complete a workout video three times per week (walking the dog doesn't count).
3. Complete one specific sacrifice each month.
4. Work on finalizing my Third Order Dominican vows.

5. Be more organized and stop procrastinating so much! Get things done as soon as possible.
6. Combine errands to optimize my use of time. I know I will be working more Saturdays this year so I can combine that with my pro-life work.

2018 House Goals

Here is a list of the house projects I would like to complete in 2018.  I  have a feeling I will only complete three of these and that is simply because everything costs money and I don't think the budget can handle all five.

1. Install the rest of the new windows in my home.
2. Complete the bedroom conversion to an office.
3. Pressure wash the exterior of the home.
4. Replace flooring on stairs and hallway.
5. Remodel 1/2 bathroom.
6. Finish painting the porch and doors!

2018 Reading List Update: The Life and Revelations of Saint Getrude the Great** 13th and final book**

This was a hard read for me. I honestly think it was because my spiritual life isn't deep enough to really understand Saint Gertrude's love for Christ.  God willing,
my spiritual life will improve and perhaps I can delve back into this book.

I have one more book I am finishing up but it won't be done until the new year.

2018 Reading List Update

Ah!!! I love this book and always thought the movie was well done. It is such a heartwarming story and reminds me of my own family.

My boss lent this book to me as part of my work progression. The book is a great read and the author emphasizes the importance of humility and references Our Lord as the perfect example.

Reading List Update: The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Yes, I know this is sooooo popular on the internet but...… I DID NOT ENJOY THIS BOOK!

Yes, there were good points here and there but the book kind of weirded me out.

Her cleaning style didn't make sense to me and seemed to be stemming from someone with an obsessive compulsive personality. I didn't understand getting rid of surplus items. I guess she has always lived in a time of plenty and doesn't know what it is like to have hard times and be without. What if there is a storm? What if you are homebound for a while? What if you or your spouse has sporadic work and you must by things in bulk as needed? It was just so impractical-as if she wasn't living in reality. Don't get me started on the paganism!

Reading List Update: Abortion Is A Satanic Sacrifice

Written by Zachary King

This is the transcript to a CD he narrated that delves into his experiences as a high wizard of Satanism.
This is not for the faint of heart but it is good to read so you are aware how deep this flows into normal society.

Reading List Update: Abortion Free

The latest book I have finished is Abortion Free by Troy Newman and Cheryl Sullenger.
This is a great book explaining the tragedy of abortion but also how to go about closing down abortion clinics and stopping abortionists. This is a great resource to keep with you always.

Reading List Update 3

My employer gave this book to employees after hearing Mr. Brown speak. I would say he is one of the best speakers I have ever heard and his book is truly inspirational. It is a very quick read and I would couple this with a few online videos of one of his speaking engagements.

Reading List Update 2

Meditations for Lent (audio)

Hubby read this to me everyday during Lent for our spiritual reading.

Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist

Wow! Brant Pitre  hits another homerun with this book! This might be my favorite piece yet! Layer after layer is peeled back as he digs more deeply into the words and actions of Christ. I cannot recommend his books enough!

Reading List Update 1

1. Meditations on Mary

Ten Universal Principals

  Saints vs. Scoundrels

I know you are totally impressed but don't be- I started all of these in 2017 and just finished them this month! All are great books and each for a different reason.

Meditations on Mary was helpful in uniting myself to the Mother of God and experiencing her deep connection and pain with her Son.

I would say my favorite was Ten Universal Principles because the philosophy is helpful for my pro-life work.

I was surprised that i would like Saints Vs. Scoundrels so much. I normally don't like to read a work of fiction based on true people but this was amazing. I thought the author really brought to life each saint and obliterated each scoundrel and all with truth!
