Bathroom Remodel... I have lost track of parts/days...etc...

Some guy came to measure for the shower door... he was creepy. The man kept telling me he liked my hair. He asked if I wore a wig or if any of it was fake. He even walked to the side of me to check it out in the back and told me to never cut it and allow it to grow past my butt. He told me he wasn't hitting on me or anything, but come on... it is just hair. Creepy.  Maybe I should just wear my hair up anytime I am around men who aren't my husband.... creepy. Did I mention creepy?

Anyway... there was a lot of re-building door frames and creating the base boards. I spent the day washing clothes, getting ahead on meals, and practicing music. Yes, these guy heard me sing, but oh well.
The toilet will be hidden behind this low wall. The shelf will be great for Hubby's "reading material"

Musically Manic Monday

Work: My job isn't too stressful right now and I hope it stays that way through the rest of this year.

Church: There will be an All Saints' Day celebration for church, but everything is pretty quiet right now.

Home: Some more work should be done this week so I will post more pictures. Hubby and I are very anxious to be done with this and give the house a scrub down!

Budget: Working on being on top of this at the end of the year. I am actually keeping a pretty good handle on (at least) the recording of this.

Pro Life: I will be out at the clinic this week on All Souls' Day which is befitting since the abortion clinic is a cemetery for the aborted babies.

Dinner Making: Last week was a little sparse- let's see if I can keep up this week!

Health: Beautiful weather for walking!

Music: Well, I was dropped a bomb this week. My choral director has asked me to sing this piece for our upcoming concert. Never you mind my horrible stage fright....  I told him I would practice this week and then he could decide... no pressure from me... I think I prefer being in the background versus singing this.

October 2013 *late as well*

Book of the month

It should be The Three Ages of the Interior Life, Vol. I (Garrigou-Lagrange), but it isn't. I have slacked off and I am still reading the two books from September. I may add December's book, but will let you know in the end.

Sacrifice of the Month

I am still in a mess with this remodel

Corporal/Spiritual Work of Mercy

Continue pro life work and be more consistent with praying and spiritual reading, and church cleaning.

Home Project

I was actually able to work on the air conditioner project and will continue on this month while incorporating some kind of work on the front gardens.

Bathroom Remodel Part III Day II

  1. We had a linoleum floor in the master bathroom.
Today, the tile guy finished grouting the master bathroom tile!

You can see the old tile work in the shower as well as the more confined area.
Look at this shower base! All I can say is wow!
Before
After

Next week, the shower will be measured for the frameless glass. As you can see in this "After" picture  the light from the window will shine through into the shower. My voluptuous body will be basking in the sun while I shower!

Bathroom Remodel Part III

I had the doorknobs changed out throughout the hallway and then the painting began!

Before
The new colour tends to pull a soft green/grey colour.
There still needs to be some touch up work, but it looks much better now. What the picture do not capture are all the crazy issues with our walls from previous poor paint jobs.

Bahroom Remodel Part II, Day IV

We just need the backsplash sealed and then I can do a thorough cleaning and then make this a functional bathroom.
So... really not much has been done. Hubby and I have wasted a couple of days of vacation  sitting around with not one soul showing up due to scheduling issues and/or missing stock. The only thing I can show is the hallway bathroom which is complete, save decorations and such.

I believe we might have the hallway/foyer painted on Saturday, but everything else is at a standstill due to missing tile. It looks like the rest of the year will be spent getting this done on odd days off.

The contractor miscalculated one of our tiles and now we have to wait on it.

I knew this would be frustrating and it really is!!! ARGH!!

Amber the Mommy Spider!

Who's that lady?

Amber!

And she is a mama!

I am amazed at this egg sac!

No, dear sister- you don't need to look at these pictures... I thought the kids might like to see these!

One of the workers freaked out when he saw this spider- he was amazed at her size!

Bathroom Remodel Part II, Day I

The remodel project is back on! Today was a half day with the master bathroom shower being built for tomorrow's tile job.

The hallway bathroom had a backsplash added, lighting was moved, and the mirror will be hung once everything is finalized.

You are kind of at a standstill while this is being done. There isn't a point in cleaning since we still have walls being sanded prior to the final paint jobs. I did manage a couple of hours of painting the front porch (you know I have to watch my sun exposure). I am going to try and tackle that again tomorrow as well as some work in the back yard. I am hoping my husband will be happy as long as he sees me trying.... one day I will actually finish one of these projects!

Manic Monday- Big Time!

My fish is changing colours again... crazy!

So.... supposedly, the majority of or bathroom remodel should take place this week. Not sure yet, since the contractor hasn't called me to confirm date/time... so typical.

Work: Off of work this week while the remodel takes place.

Church: I may head to the church to work on cleaning out of the storage closets. I will have to play this by ear depending on how everything works out with the remodel.

Budget: I don't want to get too excited, but I am catching up on this.

Pro-Life: Working with our new parish priest to hold a prayer vigil on All Souls' Day.

Music: We are singing a few pieces from Handel's Messiah along with various other songs for our December concert.

Cleaning: I am not sure what to say about this.. the house has been such a mess, but there isn't too much I can do... keep up the laundry and kitchen I guess. Course, my iron broke this weekend....

Yard: This is the week to complete projects! I pray that my stamina keeps up!

Rants....

I know, I know… my blog posts are slacked indeed! I would post more, but I have been a slacker in lots of areas within my life. Do you want to read another whiny post about my failures followed by another list of goals that will never be achieved? Well, this past Thursday was full of promise. I intended to wake up early, ready the Hubby for his day and then jump outside to paint the new rails. Intention doesn’t always equal action. I sure did wake up, made coffee, and then fell back to sleep for another freakin’ two hours! Two hours! Freakin’ hours! What the heck! Even then I was slow moving to start the day but managed to get my oddly shaped behind outside for a couple of hours of painting. I painted for two hours and then all went to “Hell in a hand basket”. Yes, too much sun for me. I was basically sick the rest of the week/weekend. All my plans for the weekend were thwarted by one of my sun exhaustion bouts. Even today, I have issues still lingering. Anyway.. during this mess of a weekend, I lost all control and ordered my husband and I to rid ourselves of junk! He followed me into one of the guest bedrooms and watched in amazement as I inched my glorious plus size body into a small closet. As my bottom grooved to the music of a cleaning frenzy (that’s an internal song by the way)- things started to fly and we started to trash! I would be satisfied with ten items to rid the house of that day and satisfied I was. I managed to donate a shower curtain, window valance, curtain rings, shower and curtain rods, as well as some pillows. We also threw out a few miscellaneous items. My house has been such a mess with the bathroom remodel and I think it is really getting to me. The two guest bedrooms contain items from the master bedroom closet and bathrooms. The front porch, dining room, living room, master bedroom, and garage are housing trash, work supplies, and all sorts of fixtures that won’t be utilized for another week. The kitchen is a mess with decorations that were on my cabinet shelves removed and stored until we can get the ceiling painted one final time. Finally, the entire house is covered with dust and it will double when the next round begins. One realizes how petty one can be when one frets over the small stuff, but I think Petty is my middle name (or is it Pretty?)….. I know you smiled at least once during this.

Aloysius the Crazy Fish!

This is a video of our pet fish. He has marbled into an array of various colours. We put him in a new tank this weekend and he was going a little crazy in there. He was "flared" due to a reflection of himself. Luckily, the reflection disappears when we turn on the overhead light.
