2020: Office Project Final

Finally have the personal office in some kind of functional order. I was able to put my breakfast nook back in order too.  I am happy this project is basically done and now I can work on organizing financial documents.

Our dining room is still covered in computers and monitors and I think it will stay that way until we know if/who is going back to an actual office. Also, I tend to work on small tasks throughout the workday which is mostly downstairs.

If it ends up just being me at home permanently, then I will work on moving the work office in here which will be quite a task.

Tasteful Tuesday: Jalapeno Poppers

I have never made jalapeno poppers before but we have such a surplus of peppers that I thought this would be a good way to enjoy them!

I used:

cream cheese
cheddar cheese
green onions
and bacon

I cut them in half or cored out some of the jalapenos

Froze them before I dipped in a batter and fried!

New Morning Prayers

I have been thinking of changing my morning prayers to include a prayer for the intercession for each of my patron saints.

What do you think about that?

2020: Reading List Update

My sister bought this for me. The fourth homily was my favorite!

The forward was horribly feministic but the book itself is great. You must read St. John of the Cross before you can read this book. You could read his works in tandem with this one.

I had never read this children's book so, why not?

Sometimes, You Just Need to be Fancy.....

Ladies, I don't know why but I had this deep desire to buy myself cups and saucers. I want to be fancy when I drink coffee....

Prayer of the Month: Litany of Humility

he Litany of Humility
For Private Use Only.
O Jesus, meek and humble of heart,
Hear me.
From the desire of being esteemed,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being loved,
Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the desire of being extolled, etc.
From the desire of being honored,
From the desire of being praised,
From the desire of being preferred to others,
From the desire of being consulted,
From the desire of being approved,
From the fear of being humiliated,
From the fear of being despised,
From the fear of suffering rebukes,
From the fear of being calumniated,
From the fear of being forgotten,
From the fear of being ridiculed,
From the fear of being wronged,
From the fear of being suspected,
That others may be loved more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be esteemed more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That, in the opinion of the world, others may increase
and I may decrease, etc.
That others may be chosen and I set aside,
That others may be praised and I go unnoticed,
That others may be preferred to me in everything,
That others may become holier than I,
provided that I may become as holy as I should

Intention: Against Self-Love

2020: Updates

2020 House Goals

1. Bedroom to office conversion
2. Deck landscape project
3. Replace water heater
4. Finish painting the last section of the porch

2020 Spiritual Goals

1. Learn to pray the Little Office as part of the Order of the Preachers
2. Perfect fasting/abstinence requirements for the Order of the Preachers
3. Perfect daily meditation as part of the Order of the Preachers

2020 Organization/Budget/Mind Goals

1. Update budget/billing each day to keep on top of it.
2. Work on making sure we are on budget each month.
3. Minimum of two blog posts each week.

We replaced the water heater in January. The office conversion is about 50-60% done. We have shelves to put up and then I need to find a desk and finally decorate.

I am trying hard to catch up on bills/budget stuff. I don't know if we will ever get to zero dollar budgeting.

2020: The Horn of the Unicorn

If you haven't read this book or haven't read it in a while- please do. This book gives you a true appreciation for Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre and the sacrifices he made for the true Faith. Without him, we would have lost everything.

2020: The Life of SIr Thomas More by William Roper

William Roper was the son-in law to Saint Thomas More.
This is a thin book but really opens your eyes to the true holiness of this saint. You can read this online in the public domain.

2020: Saints Who Saw Hell

Here is my latest read that I finished this year. My favorite part is St. Peter's description of his vision of hell which speaks of those who have aborted their children.

2020 Project Part 2:Progress

Just a couple more shots of the grey room. I put up the curtains and set up a twin bed for the little Ambrose who needs his own special area because he is a king.

2020 Project Part 1: Conversion

I know, you can't believe I am actually posting. I am going to try this month to actually post something.  I really haven't had too much going on of interest but I started a project and thought you might like to see the pictures as I work on everything.

I am working on moving the guest bedroom to the smaller spare bedroom and then converting what was the guest bedroom (what we call the special room) into an office and dressing room for me.

The guest bedroom was painted a butter yellow but it looks more peach in the picture below. The curtains were gold and cream.

Before Colour
Here is a snapshot of the old colour which can be seen in the right hand corner of the wall and the new colour which is a soft, light grey.
Switching to a grey tone

Keep It Clean

For those short on cleaning supplies- please keep in mind that......

You can wet paper towels, place in a plastic bag and then pour alcohol, vinegar, or diluted bleach onto the towels. Keep these sealed until you need them.

Hydrogen peroxide
Oregano oil

Both of these are also good for cleaning

Manic Mondays- Trying To Get A Routine

Isn't this amazing?

My new year ( I am sure this is the same with you) has already been tough and may be an indicator of the entire year.
I am going to try and make this week the start of a more normal week for me.

Work: Overtime continues with no end in sight. I do welcome the extra income to help pay for a number of expenses we had last year and in this year. I am sure you know that story as well.

Pro-life: Starting back on pro-life work again this week. Please remember those going to the March for Life event in Washington D.C..

Home: Yikes, it is a mess but this week I am going to try and put things in order. As  I type this, I do have a washed up kitchen which is a great way to start a week.  I am behind on ironing and cleaning bathrooms.

Health: Hubby bought me a FITBIT and we have decided to do a step challenge for the week. I think that will be fun and inspire both of us to get up in move whether it is walking, working in the yard, or handling household tasks.

Budget: I am behind but it isn't as bad as I thought it was so that makes me happy. I am going to try and tackle that over the next two weeks.

Church: I need to get back on track to finishing our bookstore website sometime soon!

What is going on in your world?

I will continue pro-life work, bookstore, chapel cleaning, and meals for the priests as per usual.

I may come back to this list and update it. I really haven't had a good space of time to where I could sit down and really think things through but we have a year to do that, eh?
