I know, I know... I have basically derailed my reading list. I should probably just get rid of the list and just show what I have read but.... what would be the point in that? Anway!
I just finished The Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to take control of diabetes and/or if you are pre-diabetic. In a weird way- I also recommend this to anyone looking to discipline themselves for religious reasons.
Dr. Fung promotes the eating of real foods. Processed foods are eliminated and the reasons why are discussed in great detail throughout the entire book. Dr. Fung also breaks down the reason behind weight gain. You would think calories would be the cause but it turns out it is insulin. He discusses fasting and the wonderful benefits and how the church had it right. Now... .the sad part is that he couldn't mention the Catholic Church because we basically aren't required to fast anymore but if you follow traditional fasting practices- this will make sense.
I have been wanting to engage in more fasting in tandem with prayers and was able to complete a 23 hour and 45 minute fast recently. Knowing I can do this with basically no repercussions will allow me to start Friday fasts.
Dr. Fung has a YouTube channel just in case you aren't able to purchase the book immediately. You can find it here.
