Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Dominicans study the Faith and teach it and as a novitiate- I have been striving to work on this apostolate. Today, at work, I created a little shrine for Saint Patrick at my desk which included a short history of his life. I also included this on my front door at home.

I personally did not know too much about St. Patrick but then came across his actual Confession found here. If you have time- take a moment and read. You will gain a wonderful respect for this glorious saint.

2017 Reading List: The Crocodile by Dostoyevsky

Short story(can be read here) by one of my favorite authors. The story is fantastical and concerns a man who is accidentally eaten by a crocodile and survives! If you read between the lines you can pick up on the political meanings. A quick and fun read.

High On Greens

I've been on a brussel sprouts and asparagus kick lately.
Pop these suckers in the oven at 400 degrees for 30 minutes with a little avocado oil sprinkled about and you are good to go. I usually stir them around at the 15 minute mark. Be sure to add salt and pepper to taste.

2017 Reading List: An Exorcist Explains The Demonic

I think the title says it all....

This is a must read for every Catholic- especially parents. The information and advice is sound, practical, and logical.  The priest talks about demonic possession but also delves into other things that can bring about demonic influence. He also advises as to how to avoid these issues through the prayers, sacraments, and sacramentals of the Catholic Church.

Please note that he does quote Vatican II, Pope John Paul, and Pope Francis but it isn't anything that should raise the eyebrows of a Traditional Catholic. Funnily enough, he emphatically states that the prayers/formulas from 1614 are more effective than the current exorcism prayers.

A couple of quotes from the book:

Page 123: " Sister Lucia, a seer of Fatima, revealed that God has conferred  a power so great on the Rosary that there is no evil-personal, family or social- that cannot be defeated by it's recitation with faith."

Page 141: "Meditation on hell has filled paradise with saints."

Is Spring Already Here? Nah, It's just Lent...

I was outside this week and saw one of my lilies popping through the earth!

Ambrose was not amused...

We have already digressed before even starting.... So, today is the first day of Lent! My favorite time of year!
Are you doing anything interesting for penances and prayers? Do tell!
