Saturday Morning **YAWN**

I woke up to rain and fog this morning...not exactly ideal weather for side walk counseling in front of an abortion clinic. Still, I probably should have gone anyway and left the signs at home. 

Next week the parish will pray in front of an abortion clinic during the 40 Days for Life" Lenten prayer vigil all over the world. I hope other churches join in on this. Prayer is the one thing that can change a cold heart. Believe me, these men and woman are almost always cold and lack any sensitivity for their own child.  

Hubby is asleep right now and I plan to leave him that way. He came home not feeling well last night and I have the inkling it will continue into today. We were supposed to work on the yard, but (like always) the rain has prevented us from getting that task completed.  

Housework will be my priority today until I head off on my adventures. As I stated previously, the reduction of allowable television/movies has already assisted me quite a bit. I can't watch any television today so there isn't room to lay around and be lazy. After I finish this entry, I will get up and head to the kitchen to wash a few dishes, sweep, and then mop. I also need to start a load of laundry to ensure I keep up with that potential monster! After that I think I will just go around the house picking things up and such...heck, I have a load of laundry right in front of me that needs to be folded and (dare I type it) put away!!!! 

Sunday will prove beneficial (with no tele) with regard to catching up on bookstore inventory work. I am grossly behind for two reasons: I had to transfer information from one computer to another (manually) and I really just don't enjoy it. Penance! Penance!

Mass will be at 3:00 P.M. today with the parish talent show and potluck following. I know Hubby will not be joining me, but I may hang about and enjoy the show anyway. There are a number of my choir girls who will be performing and they have power punches of talent! I will have to see how my man is doing before I head off on this adventure. He will most likely have another lie down and then watch movies (he can be low maintenance). 

Friday we had a meeting for 90 minutes going over the merger between my financial institution and the one that bought us out. It will be a rough couple of months with a gradual completion into September. No word yet on whether or not we will be kept on with the new company, but I am content working through September and saving as much as I can. I do have a week off in March and April which, so far, hasn't been taken from me. I really hope not since I have plane tickets purchased and ready to go!

After work I headed to the chapel for Stations of the Cross. Our priest isn't here so lay people are in charge of handling this. There were five of us that night in our quiet little chapel, but it was lovely. I love praying the Stations of the Cross... great for the Lent!

I think that is it for now! I am excited to see my family in two weeks-especially the two baby girls!

Thursday Night

It is Thursday night and the second day of Lent.....the soda withdrawal is getting to me-ugh. 

On the flip side, the limitation of my television/movie watching during just these first two days of Lent has been lovely!  I have been tackling more of the housework and taking care of those "little things" I miss during the work week.  I never thought I was really on the lazy side, but I do know how tired one can be when one returns from work. Dinner needs to be started immediately and after eating dinner, dishes need to be washed on top of prepping for the next day of work. There have been many times when I come home, make dinner, and then just don't want to do anything, but watch mindless television. What a waste of precious time! I could spend that time praying, taking care of the home, and improving my mind! What a travesty! Well, I have the most holy Lenten Season to improve my soul and offer reparation to Our Lord. 

Hubby didn't want to wait for the chicken stir fry and opted for a salad and left over pizza...I wasn't going to argue :-)

Anyway... there are two shirts begging to be ironed and I best not ignore the poor things. They long to be straight and tidy!

Ash Wednesday

It is close to 9:00 P.M. on Ash Wednesday....my husband is already claiming starvation.....

We won't receive our ashes until Sunday since we are part of a mission parish. In the meantime, we have started our fast, lenten promises, and prayer changes today and hope to keep going strong. 

Breakfast and lunch was a combination of string cheese and celery and dinner was grilled cheese sandwiches...nothing spectacular compared to my talented older sister. Cabbage rolls? What the heck!  I don't know how the lady can handle all of those ingredients! Crazy all the way!

I went to work today and then came home and did the usual...nothing spectacular. I did a little bit of spiritual reading tonight to start off the Lenten Season. Other than that, it has been a quiet day. 

Oh! I finished up the choir schedule for the next month. I will need to assist the choir with Easter Sunday hymns since I will be out of state.  We will have to see what will work best for the lovely ladies. 

Anyway-that is my story. 

Fat Tuesday!

It has snuck into the early part of the year! Lent is upon us! Have you made the list of sacrifices and prayers? I have, but will I keep them? I pray that I do. 

Course, we have to get through Fat Tuesday! Hubby and I are heading to a local Italian restaurant for our Fat Tuesday meal. We will partake in some lovely calamari and pizza with fresh mozzarella. We also have cookies and ice cream at home to top off our over stuffed tummies!

Monday Evening with my Hubby

It is just after 8:00 P.M. and I am winding down from the day's events.  My day was fairly usual. Woke up, made coffee, make up, iron shirt, wake up hubby, dressed, and headed to work. The day was pretty uneventful except for the negativity with a fellow co-worker. This co-worker has very little patience and can crack in an instant and that is what she did. Oh my heck! I was wishing I worked only with males this morning! It has finally escalated to a point where I have asked to move farther away from her desk-wise. What do you think about that? All craziness. I really wish I didn't have to deal with this kind of stuff on top of the usual day's events.

Headed to good old Wal-Mart after work to pick up a few things.....now this Wal-Mart will check your receipt if anything in the cart isn't bagged. Normally I flip out and take off with my cart laughing hysterically....okay,maybe not laughing hysterically, but looking a bit perturbed. Anyway- I purchased my weird assortment of groceries, paid and made my way to the exit.....my heart thumping-the sound penetrating every inch of my body. The cart wheel squeaking under the weight of the "un-bagged" water bottles and I approached. And....then...... she said, " Have a good night!"  What? Huh? Here I was conceding to the search and she didn't even bother to ask! What a disappointment! All the excitement of the day and nothing! 

Sooo, that's my story. I came home to find Hubby sanding down the Cozy Room wall. Awwww... love it when he does those things.  

We had a low key dinner and are now settling in for an evening movie.

AT HOME ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON

My sister started a blog in order to keep in touch with me since we aren't always able to talk on the phone. I decided I could do the same thing and we would both be "in the know" with each other!

So.... it is Sunday afternoon. Hubby and I went to Mass and then headed out to an afternoon lunch. Lent is coming upon us so we are having fun while we can. We will definitely enjoy Fat Tuesday and then head straight into the Lenten Season.

The Ladies choir sang " O Esca Viatorum" and didn't do a half bad job. Next week we will tackle "Veni Jesu" and a pretty "Ave Maris Stella" set to an Italian melody.

We came home and he is napping while I am finishing up our tax returns... funny... I thought we would definitely get more money back now with a home to deduct, but such was not the case. At least we will have some money coming back to us! I am wondering if we should save or splurge or do a little bit of both. What do you think???

Sunday evening will bring a bit of ironing. I may do some reading, but heck... I think it is nap time!
